Could anyone help. Im having diffs putting songs from ssd onto hdd in unit. I formatted it on a windows laptop then put the songs from itunes in mp3 format from my macbook onto the car. The card works on both the mac and the windows laptop but when i put it in unit it says problem with ssd card

I presume you mean SD card, not SSD?

How big (capacity) is the SD card? What capacity does your Columbus allow? Early unit software had a 2Gb card limit, later software has 32Gb limit.

Try burning the same mp3 tracks onto a cd and see it that plays.

Its a 16gb card the hdd is 30 gb

I meant what is the capacity of SD card which your unit allows you to use? Try using a smaller than 2Gb sd card and only a few tracks, see if it loads them.If it does, I suspect your unit won't allow you to use any card over 2Gb as that's the size the older units (with 30Gb hard drive) allowed.

Could be the extra files the mac will have put on the SD when you used it to add the MP3's...

Will try thanks

Is the SD card formatted in FAT32 (if it is Widowsn 7 or newer, you'll probably only be able to get exFAT or NTFS as formatting choices)

It is fat 32 on an older windows laptop. Do they not work with macbooks

Wait a minute, you've formatted the card on the windows and then used it back on the mackbook through which you've put music on the sd card?

Yes exactly

That's what you've been doing wrong, try to put just one (tested and working) mp3 song to the sd card via a Windows OS, and see what will happen when you put the sd card to the Columbus and select Media (if it won't auto-load, then manualy select the sd card as thr source)
