new superb

Featured Replies

Guys my 2004 MK1 is giving up. I have had it 12 years so its time for a newer model.

I was horrified to be told that Skoda are now fitting Vauxhall engines into the skoda range. I will not be getting one of these.

Ok my question is from what years did skoda start fitting Vauxhall engines?

I am looking to get the estate version not sure fuel type yet possibly a Derv as I tow a caravan.

Thanks in advance

  Someone is pulling your leg!!

I hope so.

I was told by a taxi driver I always use. He has always bought superbs until he went to buy a new one and asked why the price was cheaper than last year and the reply he was given was that they are now using Vauxhall engines. He went and bought a VW instead.

OK I take it from the replies that its not true.

A simple "no its not true " would have sufficed.

No, it's not true.....:giggle:...sorry....but it's such a funny story...:D

Hahahhaha dont get mad :)

I wont  change my car for now but if I do in futuren my first choise would be rs6, but thats to expensive, so maybe a6 allroad, or mazda 6 estate, Sup estate not bad at all, so its up to you :)

Just to clarify - Skoda is still part of the VAG group and the cars are fitted with the same engines as also used in VW, Audi and Seat (but not Vauxhall). Infact because a Haynes manual is not available for the Superb II, I bought one for a Golf (2009 to 2012 Petrol & Diesel) that includes my 1.4 petrol engine(and the diesels - but not the 1.8, 2.0 & v6 petrol) and seems to have the same mechanical, suspension, brake, electrical setup

Be aware that the Skoda Superb MK II DIESEL is fitted with the EA189 range of engines that were hit by the VW dieselgate scandal and are subject to a recall. Many members of this forum have had problems since going in for the recall work.

The MK III Superb diesel is not affected by this recall.

For a caravan the 170 diesel version is best - but try and find one that hasn't had the recall done and don't go anywhere near a main dealer!!

Mine is the smaller petrol but probably not great for towing a caravan.

Whoever told you about Vauxhall engines may have confused Skoda with Saab - which did start being fitted with Vauxhall engines.

Ignoring the 1.6 diesel (as you are towing) the MK3 has two 2.0 diesel engines a 150 and 190 bhp. The 190 version has had SCR (adblue) for some time, however the 150 has only recently been fitted with this. If I was buying a diesel I'd try to buy a pre SCR 150 version - this should be great for towing a caravan.

Many on Briskoda have liked the petrol versions as well - The 2.0 tsi 220 ps is a consideration if you are towing
