Main dealer or independent???

Featured Replies

Hi, I am a returning member, (used to own a 2011 fabia vrs) I bought a van for work that I am now selling and am looking into the Octavia estate from 2015 onwards. My budget is probably absolute top end about £9500 so can get decent spec sub 60k miles from an independent used dealer but a little less for your money from Skoda main dealer.

I was just wondering what people’s opinion was about buying direct from Skoda as opposed to an independent, what extra you can expect from Skoda in terms of aftercare and warranty etc and do you think it’s worth going for a lower spec or paying slightly more to buy from Skoda direct?

Thanks in advance for your help, my previous experience of this site has been excellent so I know you won’t let me down!

Welcome back.

Skoda Approved cars are just a Lottery as it depends the quality of the Dealership / Management / Workshop just what they punt and how well the prepare it for sale.

So use good reputable Dealerships be those Skoda Approved Dealerships or just Local or further afield independents that past customers can recommend IMO.

Thanks Offski,

will do a bit of a background check on the dealers first, just thought Skoda approved used would offer a 12 month warranty as standard so a bit more protection against something going wrong.

That is how it should be, but if something goes wrong and the Dealership Employees pan you off and you go to Skoda UK and complain they put you back to the Dealership.

So choose the Dealership wisely because there are some rather pathetic ones that Skoda UK seem to allow to stay as 'Approved Dealers', Too big to fail, too disinterested in Customer Satisfaction to be trusted.

Beadles skoda Maidstone seem friendly enough, got some good reviews online and they're my closest so might see what they have in stock.
