How long is my standard Octavia exhaust likely to last?

The reason I ask is that I have enough money burning a hole in my pocket to buy a Milltek Cat-back system and get it delivered to NZ, but mission control (SWMBO) is a little resistant to the idea to say the least!

BUT if my exhaust ever does fail I'll probably be looking at a six-week plus delivery time to NZ from the UK (by sea!) so I want to be prepared.

Is there a local Milltek wannabe to you? I should think there'd be plenty of custom stainless system fabriactors in NZ?

I have a 51 plate vRS hatch and the exhaust failed after 20months. It was replaced by the dealer under warranty however. Hurrah!

The best I can do locally for a manufactured system is Remus but they do backbox only so I'm not interested!

I have a good price from Awesome for a Milltek (about 160GBP delivery :eek:)

I'm a bit nervous about getting a custom system because I don't want it to be too noisy. Subtle is what I want! I had a Powerflow on my old Audi 90 and it was ace but too loud. And the local fashion is big pipes, Scooby style :thumbdwn: .

Exhaust life can depend on the distance you drive. If you only do short distances then you get a build up of nasty cr@p that doesn't burn off as the exhaust heats up. This then settles in the lowest parts and eats its way through the metal. This can polish off an exhaust in a few months.

Order your Milltek after a week drill a small hole near the back box so you get a blowing sound. Complain constantly for 5 weeks then "as if by magic" your shiny new zorst appears on the doorstep. Everybody is happy
