I'm curious as to what people are paying for their car insurance on their Kodiaqs... mainly because I've just had a mild disagreement with LV= over my renewal premium.

They wanted just under £300 (last year's premium was about £275, but that included 6 months of driving the Octavia vRS) according to my renewal quote, but after sticking in my details on their website and generating a fresh quote with all the same parameters, I'm now paying just over £200 for the year. It does help that I'm an old fart (>40) and live somewhere that isn't a hotspot for car crime, but I still think that's bloody cheap. DirectLine wanted almost £350.

So... what's everyone else paying, if you don't mind sharing?

Old Fart. 40+? I'm properly old, and as for my OH.... LV is creeping up for us  but still our best bet.

Ok so live you I too drove an octy vRS before I got the kodiaq. I am with direct line. I called them up and changed car's over on the policy for the princely sum of £24 extra for the remaining 6 months on the policy. So just over £500 a year.

I'm close to 50, have 8 years NCB but live close to a higher risk area so we get hammered on our insurance because we're close to Reading.

Extra...? :o

The Kodiaq is cheaper to insure than the vRS was for me, despite being a more expensive car.

Comprehensive, me (age 39) and the wife (36), 8,000 miles, social, domestic, pleasure and commuting, YO postcode, parked on driveway, 17 years no-claims-bonus.

£187.48...

Just for comparison,

Kodiaq SE 1.4TSI 2WD with no added toys

Self age 71 and SWMBO age 70 to drive

Social Domestic and Pleasure plus Business use for self

10,000 mile pa including 3000 miles for business

Parked on driveway

LE14 postcode

10 years NCB

£185 with AA Insurance

Swapped to Kodiaq from Superb 1.6TDI Greenline in April , (10 days after renewal date), with no increase in premium.

I had an Accord 2.2 CTDI Sport before this and it was costing a pretty fortune as its a higher insurance bracket, just had a look at my premium (i had to pay £150 to change it over 6 months ago!) and apparently its about 900 quid! I'm 35 and live in an area that borders a high risk one, 5 yrs no claims on a 190 Scout. Pretty sure i'll get a better quote in November when it comes for renewal.

Lots of factors here apply. The insurance groups range from 12 to 23 for different variants of the Kodiaq. Interestingly the sport line variant is the top at 23. Edition tops out 22 I believe. Mine is group 22. I have 10 years plus no claims. Clean license. Age 46, GU51 postcode parked on the driveway. 10000 miles a year. Protected no claims with both my wife and myself on the policy. 300 quid. I wish the insurance industry would stop the price loading on the 2nd year. I always switch. The only insurer who has ever remained costant for two years was M&S.

I've never had this problem with LV= before though - every time they've sent me a renewal quote it's been within a few £ of the what I get by generating a new quote on their website. And it's also usually cheaper or as cheap as anyone else (certainly when compared to other 'major' insurance companies). That's why I've been a customer of theirs for the last 10 years, maybe longer.

Then they pulled this trick this year... so may lose me when it comes round to next year if they try the same thing again.

Forgot to add to my earlier posting - I always use the comparison sites every year and use those prices to negotiate with my present insurer.  If they won't match or come close I switch to the lowest quoting insurer with an acceptable reputation.

Funnily enough I am with LV this year for the first time. Will be interesting to see how they handle my renewal next month. I can swallow a few quid increase but not more.

Did I see you this morning on Elvetham Heath?  I see so few Kodiaqs that I get quite excited to see another one!

Likewise. I rather like seeing them. Not me I'm afraid but only live 4 minutes away and frequent the estate often. There is another quartz metallic 18 plate Kodiaq up there and I did pass it this morning. Also a jungle green one too. The only other one I have seen locally is a white one which funnily enough parked next to us on Elvetham Heath too. What colour is yours?

Ah it must have been the other quartz one then, I'm pretty sure it was that colour.  Mine's Cappucino Beige.  I've had the car for about 2 weeks and only seen a handful of others, quite a difference to my Qashqai when I was seeing them everywhere!
