I have a 2008 Octavia vrs 2ltr, and I am

looking to get a caravan for the kids.

i was wondering what is the maximum weight caravan I could tow?

I have 2 kids so could ideally have a biggish caravan as possible

The answer should be in the owner's manual.

Should also be on the chassis plate on the car.

hopefully you are eligible to tow over the 750 Kg limit i.e. you have BE on your licence.

You can tow over 750kg with a B cat license.....

 

If you passed your car driving test on or after 1 January 1997 you can:

• drive a car or van up to 3,500kg maximum authorised mass (MAM) towing a trailer of up to 750kg MAM
• tow a trailer over 750kg MAM as long as the combined MAM of the trailer and towing vehicle is no more than 3,500kg

Think the OP's car is rated to 1400kg and you should be able to manage that on a cat B license provided the Cars MAM is less than 2100Kgs. If you take note of the 85% rule I'd prob look at vans up to 1200kg ish.

It has been said that 80 per cent of your car weight is the recommended you can tow at. Mine is 1450klg and I tow at 1320 klg or there abouts.
