Can anyone give any suggestions on why me car is so bad on MPG.

Me car originally had the BXE engine in amazing MPG 42/46 around doors the engine broke so got a second hand one fitted which is  now a BLS engine but ever since it was fitted the MPG is really bad its anything from 35/40 around doors am running out of options on what to try.

Thought it was sticky brakes. Sticky injector. And so on any suggestions would be nice thanks.

Fitted new timing belt kit. when timing it up a did notice the lugs on the back of the cam pulley weren't in line with the little arrow on the rear timing belt cover the 4z mark a don't no if this will make any difference or not.

Cheers

If the timing belt timing is wrong, it can mess up your fuel consumption.

Thanks

A don't no if a can remove the belt and try and time it up to all the correct marks.

Also with the engine being a second hand engine a don't no what year the engine is so not totally sure which locking tool to use on the bottom crank pulley.

Is it the 1 with the mark at 12 o clock or is it the 1 with the 2  o clock mark on.

To time the engine up properly.
