4x4 spare wheel kit

Featured Replies

Has anyone ordered a space saver wheel kit after  taking delivery of the car and if so how long did it take the dealer to get it for you ?

I can only comment on the cost of the SEL variant. It’s £150 if chosen as an option when ordering the car, but jumps to £289 if dealer fitted.

I have a brand new spare wheel that I'm  happy to sell (for the right price) but I haven't got the polystyrene former that it sits in.

Thanks for the offer but having spent a small fortune already I’ll pass!

Taking delivery of a demo Kojar 1.5TSi at end of October. Reluctantly pXing my Yeti 150 L&K which has been suffering with DPF problems due to my insufficient distance/motorway driving. (12000 miles in 3 years)

I bought a a spacesaver 195/160 R-16 wheel and floor kit for my old Yeti and am wondering if anybody has done the same when changing from a Yeti to a Karoq.

Also any comments on towing a caravan wax permissible weight of 1270 kg.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Looking like no one has ordered a spare wheel kit then, just that when I got my used Karoq part of the deal was for the dealer to order me a kit, 6 weeks and still no idea when it will come!

I think your dealer is pulling your leg. Spare wheel kits are readily available and don’t take 6 weeks to arrive.

An update to this post I started, today the dealer ( Rainworth Skoda ) came good and supplied and fitted the whole spare wheel kit they promised me when I bought the car. It was 4 months old when I bought it.

I didn't have to go on at them too much the salesman sorted it.

How about some pics???

As a comment on this topic, I have just fitted a space saver spare wheel to my Karoq DSG 4X4, This car is an "Edition" model with Varioflex rear seats. My dealer supplied the correct kit for a 4X4 vehicle, but the polystyrene spacer between the spare wheel and the rear seats did not fit, it was too thick horizontally front to back. I queried this with the dealer, but he said that the only kit that is available for a 4X4 is Skoda part 57A 093 860A. The instructions for the fitting of the kit states on page 7 that it is only for use with fixed rear seats!

I solved the problem by cutting about 4cm off the spacer. It now fits reasonably well, but it would have been a much easier installation if the spacer was right in the first place.

Was my dealer right to say that there was no kit for use with Varioflex seats?

All I can say is mine has the Vario seats and it fits very well! In the part booklet which is for the same part number as yours as you say it mentions the fixed seats.

The part behind the rear seats on mine didn't seem to fit right! but when I tipped the 3 seats forward and then jiggled and put the fixing screws back into the polystyrene parts all was the well !!

I’m confused I thought all SEL And Edition models came with a spare wheel as standerd

mine came with a spare but only a space saver as it has a Canton sound system

There are 3 types of spare for the Karoq on MY18 but MY19 now only 2 Temporary steel space saver spare wheel - 215/60 R16  Steel space-saving spare wheel - 125/70 R18

Karoq Edition 4x4 with Varioflex seats.

I sourced the parts from TPS Brighton (VW Group parts supplier) for £88,34 for the Spare Wheel Kit (part number as above) plus £158.23 for the wheel itself (yes, I know I could have done it cheaper but I wanted to be sure if it didn't fit there would be no problem taking it back). It took a week to arrive. It does say for non-Varioflex but I carried out the same mod as cr1100 - it was very simple, some careful cuts with a Stanley knife to accommodate the seat handles. Here are some photos.

JohnD5314.      Very good, I am not up to speed posting pics :)

  • 1 year later...

My dealer informs me that a complete kit inc the space saver for the 4x4 Karoq is £250 inc VAT I found the  polystyrene kit & tools on Flea Bay for £93 delivered from a Skoda dealer and then an unused VW space saver wheel & tyre for £34 so @ £127 in total its even cheaper than ordering as an option from new.

Just a point about the fit of the polystyrene kit with varioflex seating the polystyrene has to be cut down across the width to clear the seats if you need to lift them up but there is no need to make cutouts for the seat catches as they are pocketed in the seats so you can get to them easily enough.
