Dpf regen mileage

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a mk2 superb which had the emissions update applied before I bought it, this is my first car with a dpf so I don't know what is normal. According to vag dpf my regen is roughly every 200 miles. Daily commute is 30 miles return 1/2 40 mph limit 1/2 70 mph. Even on a long run it's still roughly 200 miles per regen. Doesn't seem to passively regen. Should I roll back the update?

My unfixed CR140 does a regeneration approximately every 400 miles + occasional passive regens.  I also regularly use V-Power diesel.

This sounds very similar to my car at present.  I have the CR140 engine and the fix was applied at the dealers before I bought it, it was a few months after I bought it I checked my VIN to find it had been fixed.  Around the same time I received the TBM Goodwill letter, which runs out around November this year.

Anyway, I regularly get 250 miles before active regen.  I am doing 35 miles a day commute with a very similar mix of roads/speeds as yourself.  The best I got was on a long run down south in June this year where it hit almost 400 miles, but that was a one off.  I was towing a trailer and was getting long periods of passive regen.  I usually start getting passive regen from 50 - 60% onwards, but in normal use I am usually always seeing an active regen about 250 miles.  Worth noting I tend to always use Shell VPower diesel.  Comparing to the Fuelsave stuff, my car does sound quieter and smoother at 60 - 70mph so I have stuck with it and rarely use anything else.

I am seriously considering a rollback in the near future and as Drefaldwyn has advised I would be hoping this reverts to 400+ miles on normal use.  There is an excellent group on FB specifically on the EA189 Emission Fix Reversal subject which is worth looking up. Keep us posted on your roll back journey!
