A New brochure for pricing and specifications is now on Skoda UK website

Appears range is currently rationalised to 3 engines, 1.0tsi 115, 1.5tsi 150 and a 1.6 diesel 115

Now just 3 spec levels S SE SEL

 

Obviously some models might reappear later, if Skoda chooses to reintroduce them and WLTP test

but for now looks like a rationalised range is all you can get

 

 

Options include 10.25 inch Virtual cockpit  (haven't got time to list all the options)

    Wow - in the words of Dragons Den - 'I'm Out' no vRS or L&K no 2.0 Litre Engines Diesel or Petrol.   That is going to hurt sales.

VW group are having a mare with the WLTP and approval which is delaying the availability of engines. It's reported almost half the line up doesn't meet the standards.

This has been coming for sometime, yet I still find it astonishing that VW can get itself into a situation where Skoda’s main cash-cow is basically limping out of showrooms.

 

All tracks back to diesel gate, I guess, as VW knows that its past misdemeanours mean it has got to be squeaky clean under the new regs.

 

What a mess, though. And a real headache for dealers.

I've just realised that right at this moment Skoda can't sell me a new car I actually want to buy. 

 

I've been thinking about my next car and I want to change before March and at the moment that's impossible.

So for time being no 2 litre engines, no L&K, no Scouts, no vRS

 

Clearly no short term likelihood of them being reintroduced (otherwise why issue a brochure without them, rather than usual asterisk saying available to order from month xxx)

 

When (or if) they are reintroduced, for ordering,  could easily be another 3-4 months before any get delivered. So could be Spring 2019 before any of the currently discontinued models are available.

 

Alternatives within VW Group are also depleted, as an example, a great chunk of Seat Leon range also axed for time being.

That seems a bit poor.  Wonder if they will do another facelift/update and whether that's when other engine options may appear.

They 'Skoda' announced what the MY19 vRS would be, just they had not got WLTP approved and managed acceptable Co2 g/km and fuel consumption with the addition of GPF's it would appear, or VW falling out with their major engine parts supplier might be the issue.

Suppliers walking away from the poor payer & pith taker is always spun to VW giving them the boot.

Nope.  The facelift is done.  The remaining models will be added as and when testing is done. 

Glad I took the plunge when I did with the 245 or by now would probably looking at changing brands and the Hyundai i30 N Performance would have been close to the top of my list.:blink:

Could this be a good time to sell my 245 estate?

 

Been contemplating it for a few weeks now. :wondering:

Not interested wife hates estates. Ordered Superb Estate in 2016 and when I told her she said cancel it and order the Hatch. So I did as SWMBO demanded.:party:

Well unless you're very skinny & like Prince have some ribs removed, its very hard to BJ yourself

I'm genuinely interested as to why these are so attractive? They aren't exactly cheap, PCP is shocking on them so they clearly aren't banking on good residuals, they aren't "that" fast, the interior is still Hyundai, they have rock hard suspension even in comfort mode apparently and other than farting while changing gears they have a diff that sets them apart. I'd have put it a world apart from the VRS from the perspective of why a VRS makes  sense (bit more sedate, more room, compromise on handling etc) and put the Hyundai into the 18 years olds car.

 

I do like them as an idea but in practice it seems to be more of a gimmick than anything else. The idea of a cheap but well specced hot hatch was good but when it ends up being 28k and you have to sit in that cheap interior in traffic jams (since every day isn't a track day) it kind of lost it's appeal for me. I've never been one for calling anything with a fast engine a 'good car'. I only went VRS because I didn't want to take a backwards step in specification  on my old car. 

 

It's a genuine question and not a criticism I'm just curious.

No I wouldn't swap my sedate VRS for the i30 N but is was developed by the former boss of BMW M Division, so he knows how to tune a decent car but agree about the interior, Never tire of the beautiful interior and comfort of the electric, heated, alcantara thrones in the 245, a big improvement on the 220/230 versions (waits for the backlash).:call:

Would have made to the dyno run event your way but the night before going with SWMBO to a dicky bow Banquet for charity (the only one we attend each year-good cause) and it never ends until at least 00:30.:sleepy:

i could imagine the mk4 might be where new engines are introduced.

Is microsuede a cheaper version of alcantra?, I noticed that's what's in the SEL now. It doesn't sound as nice.

AFAIK Alcantara (and Ultrasuede) are brand names for Microsuede so it would indicate Skoda have a new source, or a variety of sources.  Alcantara did announce a while back they were struggling to keep up with demand, which probably means they got more expensive.

MK4 is still a couple of years away. Aren't the MY19 VRS and other big engined versions already available in other markets?
