Just tried my 1.4tsi manual in my usual eco mode and in individual mode (engine in sport mode) on known journeys . Mpg is worse in individual and I can get the same performance in eco by just pressing the loud pedal harder. Yes, the power comes in earlier in the pedal travel in individual,  but the car is not lacking in power or acceleration. Sez I ;)

  • With DSG, if you select ECO drive mode, it will occasionally coast (akin to pressing the clutch pedal in on a manual) so the revs drop etc.

  • Bigger difference with DSG and DCC equipped cars and also effects AFS on the Xenon lights
