tuning advice for vrs

Featured Replies

hi all i have had the car a week and am really impressed, however it must be a bloke thing to wonder about what can be done.

Eventually I will get a switchable reamp (after warranty has expired next april) which i am told will take it to approx 170-180 bhp with approx 290 flbs torque.

i am in the process of buying a panel filter but was wondering what else could be done in the mean time which would not affect warranty and is worth doing bearing in mind the remap down the line.

would appreciate any advice and sites to look at as to be honest i have no idea!!

have read here about ''tuning boxes'' and cold air chips but dont know which way to go. any ideas thankyou all

ps eventually i will be able to answer questions for some people once I know what i am doing lol as just taking from site at the moment sorry.

Strut Brace?

Hi Adam

If it is going to be a switchable remap why wait?

Any problems you switch it off before you go in for any warranty work.

But the problem is , when you have had the remap you WILL want more.

The suspension you could do the Eibach springs with the Koni dampers , they work well together.

Strut brace as has been mentioned , the rear anti roll bar is also sounding quite good.

Brakes the 312 upgrade is good.

Then the clutch and possibly the diff.

There are plenty to choose from.

If I can help you further PM me or give me a call on 0161 7760777 and I will do my best for you.

This is a good site for getting loads of info on tuning and problems.

But it is also a good site for spending your money ;)

I think its power and abit more grunt he's looking fo rat the moment. The common things i've heard are a cupra 160 air intake, and a panel filter these sound like good options. I agree, wait until after your warranty. If you can, speak to someone further who know's about tuning, a mate or so. If you speak to companies directly, they'll try and sell you anything.

Nowhere in that was I selling him anything.

I have given advise on the tuning options open.

I am NOT here to sell anyone something that they do not require.

This was the second post that I did this morning with just about the same reply.

The other post it was commented to have a word with me about what can be done.

I do not push and I advise what can be done to your car.

I am not saying that all the parts are available with us.

I do mention about rear anti roll bars that are available from another tuning compant.

I have mentioned about PD160 air intakes and these are from the dealer.

So I hope this helps you put in to perspective what I am doing here.

I do know about tuning and what can be done.

I do know about the cars so if ANYONE has ANY questions wether it be tuning , performance , suspension , warranty or anything else I am here to help

I'd heartily recommend a tuning box as they can be installed/uninstalled in 5 minutes and give the best bang for buck performance :D Insurance can be a bit of a stinger though (but it'll be the same with a remap)....

I ran an analog one on my Fabia (

I found the digital tuning box to take a good while to remove as you have all the wiring etc, this is not a problem for the analog one true enough.

That said it's more likely to get picked up then a remap that's turned off IMHO ;)

There are many ways of improving performance, each with pros and cons that need considering ;)

choices choices dunno where to start

think starting small would be best and thanx awesomesarah it is actually your remap I am thinking of buying so will def be in touch.

UUmmm i know its naughty but you say a switchable remap is good as you can switch on and off for warranty...... not saying I would but surely you could just not tell your insurance company and if you did have a bump you could switch it back to standard. ( for any 5.0. reading I am not stating this is being done by myself or any other member was just wondering if it be the case??)

Well you could, but it's illegal and kind of assumes you and the car are in a fit state to make that change. If you were found out though your insurance would be null and void and the police could then prosecute you for driving with no insurance and you may be liable for any 3rd party injury claims against you. Not a risk I'd bother taking!

I agree but was just saying could it be done as my mrs works for NU and was saying that it couldnt be done. besides if was gonna have it modded and spend the extra cash would want it insured for the car it was... would be interesting to see the difference in insurance quote though.

Hey.

I know my age is going to mean this isnt entirely relevant with this but...insurance for 1yr old Furby VRS is

im 19 and coming up for one years driving, therefore oe years no claims. Bit stingy anyway, but Waitrose bonus makes it affordable  Also, the car is newish, which dosnt help. insurance for my 1.4 was 1400.

That makes two of us.

I am a very big Skoda fan and have been for a few years.

I have worked in the tuning business for a couple of years and have seen some mods come and I have seen people who have experienced things that did not suit.

I give out advise and it is only advise.

I dont tell people to come to me and only me.

The rear strut brace is one that has been covered on here and we do not sell them.

But I would advise anyone who is looking in that direction to do a search on here.

This forum is great as you will find lots of people who have experienced these and the reviews do seem to be good.

So it could possibly be worth it.

So to that extent we may be looking for people to come to us for their mods , but we do give out free advise and it costs to advertise on here.

But I love the job and even post on my days off as I do miss not coming on here to speak to the people.

I must have misstaken the text that you put in your post , but it did seem to me that you was telling him not to listen to me.

I love the Fabia`s and have just bought one myself affter saving long and hard and am thinking about lowering her with some nice new alloys.

So next it will be me seeking advise. ;)
