hi again does anyone know when the needle reaches R and the fuel comp says zero miles how much petrol is in the tank i am confused does R mean reserve so there is fuel in the tank and the comp is just trying to frighten me saying zero miles

If the comp says zero u could do with some fuel, from experience around 3-4.5 litre left but there could be gunge etc that you dont want to pull through the system.

i got about 20miles lol! but then decided maybe it was time to fill up just incase!

so the R is some sort of reserve then possibly a gallon but not worth risking gunk etc cheers for your thoughts on the subject

Someone here recently got 50miles after the computer showed zero. That was an Octavia TDi.

He then ran out of fuel and couldnt easily restart the car

oh you never want to play chicken with a diesel car, re-priming the fuel system is a scary thought!

A mate of mine borrowed a friend's *new* car and put the wrong fuel in it.

His mate called to ask "how do you think it drives?".

My mate replied "great on diesel, but only about 5 feet on petrol".
