In Edinburgh, substantial investment would be required to bring road surfaces up to an acceptable level, whereby these would not fall apart after the first hundred miles of running..   (but I take your point!)

The Millions on trams, is that billions of quids yet including enquiry's, then the millions on traffic speed limits and changes, cycle routes / ways etc would obviously need a bit more spent, the metre & a half wide surface that is needed now for the bikes and electric bikes anyway.

Low Emissions Zones and Transport in City Centres does not come cheap, and neither does not getting on with pollution reduction.

Not everyone can ride bikes or walk a mile or 3 or more.

Glasgow City Centre is not accessible to many unless they had a Mobility Scooter and even then that is no much cope if a pavement one.

Aberdeen is the same, Perth, Inverness, Dundee the Electric City and the City with the V&A.

Wow then they could issue parking fines 3x as fast.

Totally true about Edinburgh's roads, they utterly woeful. Full of holes and all the lines worn away except for red and yellow ones.
