Featured Replies

You will get it on the V5, but then if they fitted a new MCU they should have done the Update.

?

How much have you paid then, is it for the diagnosis and then a MCU?

We've been quoted £1,400 Labour charges. So far we haven't paid anything but they still have the car after 1 month. They have us over a barrel. How do we get our car back. They haven't contacted us since before Christmas.

OK, got you.

They fitted a new MCU and that never sorted things because they do not know what they are doing.

I have a friend that had that exact issue.  Not only did Parks Hamilton want to charge for the replacement ECU but the one to replace that.

Skoda UK Customer Services had to get involved.

@Sittingbull does not get on the forum much these days.  This was a bad case of Incompetence at a Dealership, and then trying to get profit from their errors.

You will get an idea of the Main dealership charges for supplying and fitting and being incompetent. Cost him £2,800.

Skoda UK are involved but they are now saying that that they have no contractual obligation.

Are you dealing with a Resolutions Manager.  They move them about regularly to some new administrator with memory loss and the computer that must be getting wiped clean daily as they know nothing about 'Know faults;.

4 year old car out of Manufacturers warranty with a DQ200 DSG that was part of a Recall Action 2013-2015 so known issues.

They can find out if yours should have had a Software Update.

Then they can think on and get a Master Tech at a Franchised / Official Dealership to find out if it is a Manufacturing / Component failure or a Software Issue.

If not they can get a Engineer in. See if the same ongoing issue affecting hundreds of cars and according to them overblown on the internet.

They can get involved OK, because it is a 'Safety Critical issue even if the DVSA let them off time after time with saying that you can roll to the side of the road to a place of safety.

Others have contacted the DVSA & DfT and had some muppet reply with the usual. doing VW's bit as a fan boy.
