Damaged diamond-cut wheel in Devon

Featured Replies

On Monday, for the first time in my life, I kerbed a wheel. I would be a diamond-cut one, of course!

I contacted a specialist in Exeter via their website on Monday evening. They responded with a quotation of £95 plus VAT first thing on Tuesday morning. I dropped it off to them on Tuesday afternoon and they said they would do their best to get it done for the weekend. They phoned me just after lunch today to say the wheel was ready.

As you can see from the before and after images they have done a cracking job and I would certainly recommend them:

South West Alloys

Unit 3, Grace Road West

Exeter. EX2 8PU

I have no connection with this company, apart from being a happy customer!

Chap in our street also repairs alloys but only charges £50 per wheel including VAT and he collects and drops them off afterwards. Suppose I am lucky as SWMBO keeps being attacked by those nightmare moving kerbs.

Is that the same wheel, the spokes seem in opposite directions?

It is the same wheel, just a bad photo! Here is one closer to the 'before' shot.

Looks like a good job on the repair!

I paid for the insurance for CarCarePlan through Skoda when I bought the vRS brand new (3 years for £149).

I had curbed it once, had it repaired where the repairer said that they "do not repair diamond cut, but instead just skim over to repair".

After job was done, I called up CarCarePlan and enquired as I thought I was mis-sold the insurance as Skoda stated diamond cut repairs are carried out by CarCarePlan.

CCP confirmed they do indeed repair diamond cut alloys and that they did not know why the repairer said they don't.

They enquired to the repairer to come and redo the job again, but to my surprise there has been no contact since.

Morale of the story... do not believe the repairer!
