 Just wanted to know if any Yeti owners who are eligible going to claim.

What are you claiming for, have you sold your Yeti and lost money.

 

Is this still the deadline and another Class Action Court action after the one the other week where VW Group were awarded costs?

I guess if it can be proven that resale value has been significantly reduced, anyone could claim damages.

For clarity, the costs award was because of a procedural mess in raising the initial class action suit, not because of any finding in VW's favour re the emissions cheat.  Basically, umpteen law firms were trying to get on the class action bandwagon and arguing with each other about how to pursue it, which ended up costing VW time and money in trying to work out exactly what litigation they were going to have to defend themselves against.

How this could possibly happened is, of course, a complete mystery.  I mean, nobody could possibly believe that greedy law firms were desperate to try to grab a healthy cut of what looked like it could be a juicy no-win-no-fee pie.  Could they?

So has anyone that still have the car and not had it in for 'The Fix' got any losses financially,

or have they been offered too little because it is a VW Group Diesel or just a diesel?

The only thing that could be argued is a loss of value when selling the car. We have an unfixed fabia 1.6tdi, which we will probably keep another three or four years by which time it will be into banger value. However I doubt if those in the market for a 10 year old, low mileage, good condition, and fuel efficient car will care a toss about its emissions status. After all someone is going to buy it and use it if the potential first buyer doesn't. Indeed an unfixed car may well have an enhanced value?

 

The other thing is that the emissions scandal has affected the market for all diesel vehicles. Bizarrely sales of new clean Euro 6 diesels which emit no more nox than a petrol car, and use much less fuel reducing co2 output have slumped. So if I had a Ford diesel wouldn't I also want to jump on this compensation bandwagon based on that having had its value reduced?

 

Personally I went ahead and bought a new 150tdi Yeti in the knowledge of the scandal already happening, so I can't claim. Indeed when my car is 5 years old and about to be changed, it may well have an enhanced rarity value over the thirsty and underpowered petrol equivalents?

(Ordinary) cars lose value - fact, its called depreciation. Depreciation varies with fashion, perceived reliability, perceived cost of ownership, perceived status, dozens of things. Many cars take a nose dive in value when rumours or bad things get said, mk2 vrs fabia for example, many engine failures maybe 10% but all tarred with the same brush. Honest John says he thinks model x or brand x is unreliable or prone to problems, the second hand value dives as a result, do you sue the motor manufacturer or HJ??

 

"If I knew this car was going to lose more value than I thought, I wouldn't have bought it" isn't going to work in a court. Neither is "this car isn't as economical or clean as I thought" as that applies to most cars ever made.

Over 20% nearer 33%  engines replaced or rebuilt in the Skoda Twinchargers First Registered in the UK 2010-2012, 1,800 cars.

Even replacement engines replaced, then failures in the 1,100 2012-2015 First Registered in the UK.

Similar with the VW, SEAT & Audi with the 1.4 TSI / TFSI 132-136kw Euro 5 engines.

As if !.........it was off to the knakers (auctions) I seem to recall.

Odd that their tracking system didn’t pick it up.

 

Almost guaranteed that the fix will be done prior to resale due to Australian Design Rules (ADR), so I guess that would be the same in Britain.
