Considering Kodiaq vRS

Featured Replies

Giving the 7seat vRS some serious consideration currently.

Have a mk7.5 GTI PP at moment but could do with more space and the Tiguan doesn’t really do it for me.

Hadnt considered a Kodiaq, but saw a red Sportline and thought it looks just like a big GTI, so hopefully the vrs will be even closer to that target.

Still not sure about buying a vag diesel but guess there is no choice as it will be the 240 biturbo unit.

The Velvet Red Sportline is what sold me when we just placed an order for an Kodiaq Sportline  - now we did not settle for that color (we->wife) but the Sportline trim makes any color look good imo.

As for diesel if you drive a bit I would for sure live with the bitdi, 500Nm being the reason - however NOT in Norway, during the winter the 2.0TDI just cant keep operating temperatures and it kills the DPF. Hopefully the 272TSI eventually comes for det Kodiaq vRS.

How far North are you?

We got pretty low temperatures here also (3 winters ago -30 C for  a month, usually -15...20C).

True, urban cycle doesn`t heat the engine up to normal operating temperature, but extraurban certainly does.

My 2,0 TDI Superb has done 350 000 kms during last 4,5 years and DPF is still completely functional.

But vRS is a go for me. 500 Nm (tuned up 600 Nm). No hesitation.

Im in the middle of Norway occasionally driving up north.

I forgot to mention I was talking about short trips, city driving and such - we often drive short distances and that is what kills the DPF in the winter. Of course if you drive long distances and let the car get a good temperature sometimes the DPF will be just fine. I love petrol and how the temperature climbs almost immediately after you start driving.

Yes, petrol is petrol. Diesel is tractor (still. I hope one day Skoda will get Audi`s smooth diesel) :)). But cost is the argument for me, considering annual mileage.

I was wondering the other day about the likelihood of a Seat Tarraco Cupra R... 300bhp and petrol.

It's not beyond the realms of possibilities, but I guess the economy would be absolutely shocking. :D

^^^ That would be a Cupra Tarraco R  would it not.    Cupra being the tuning arm of SEAT, a separate entity now.   Kidology!

Dream no more - it's coming by the end of 2018 (a Cupra Ateca that is )

There is more than the difference of Ooo & Ahhh with a Cupra anything from a Cupra 'anything' R.    Or there should be.

And your source for that is...?

Ateca Cupra, or Cupra Ateca, there is a difference according to SEAT.

"More substantially, the Cupra Ateca features the VW Group’s EA888 2.0 TSI engine, in this case tuned for 296bhp and 295lb ft of torque, propelling the 1632kg SUV from 0-62mph in 5.2secs on its way to a top speed of 153mph. There’s a seven-speed DSG auto ‘box and variable four-wheel-drive, while work has been done to the Ateca’s adaptive suspension settings.

There’s also been considerable tuning of the Ateca’s software, including a new Cupra drive mode. Our test machine also featured the optional Performance Pack, which among other tweaks includes 18in Brembo brake and bucket seats. Yes, bucket seats in an SUV."

All from Autocar, nothing concrete I can find from SEAT themselves, just this 'coming soon' type communication...

Ateca != Tarraco

Good if they can get you the 296ps Ateca, right now they can only offer 115ps ones not even the 150ps.   But then that is SEAT and not Cupra!

Correct, did anyone claim it was?

It will be around £38K on sale

Pricing for the Cupra Ateca announced yesterday...

"While the prospect of another performance SUV may not bring joy to your heart, the arrival of the first dedicated Cupra product in the UK is pretty significant news. It's promising 'Uniqueness, Sophistication and Performance', aiming to conquer a new group of enthusiasts with its wares and, you would have to assume, build on the favourable following the old SEAT Cupra products enjoyed on these shores.

The Cupra Ateca is a car that's been pretty well received in initial reviews, and now a UK price has been confirmed at £35,900. That's actually below estimates - which were nearer £40k - and will include a "high level of standard spec". As a result the only options available will be a panoramic roof, a towbar, a Comfort & Sound pack with BeatsAudio, an Advanced Driving Assistance Pack, and a Design Pack with 20-inch wheels (up from the standard 19) and Brembo brakes. That's it. The six colour choices - Energy Blue, Velvet Red, Nevada White, Magic Black, Rodium Grey and Brilliant Silver - are all no cost."

Long way to China

BMW X5 > X6.

Take a good looking SUV, make is less practical and a whole lot uglier, and charge more for it.

You can see the attraction for Skoda!

I'm ready to sign up for a 300HP Kodiaq replacement next time
