Cranks but doesn't start after removing engine cover

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Very strange problem here.  I had to remove the engine cover of a 2006 octavia (1.6 FSI) to investigate the EGR valve, but am having no luck starting her back up after putting the cover back in place.

I had to disconnect (and reconnect) two things from the engine cover: one vacuum line and one air temperature sensor electrical connector.

Any ideas what, in the process of removing and re-inserting the engine cover, could cause a non-starter? The engine cranks but does not start. Was able to start fine before this.

I've checked there is plenty of fuel, and battery is fairly new.

Cheers!

Re-trace your steps, take the engine cover back off and make sure you havn't knocked any connections around the top of the engine such as on the coil packs etc.

Are the plugs you removed fully pushed back in ?
