All weather tyres.

Featured Replies

Hi, am looking for all weather tyres for my 1.2 TSI Monte Carlo, does anyone know the largest tyres i can fit to the 17 inch wheels, i am looking for better ride quality and curb protection. Thanks.

Larger tyres mean less grip on snow, ice and rain but you probably knew that. Larger tyres will generally make ride quality worse though it varies on tyre model.

Some tyres can be had with a protection bead, to protect rims, they usually have FP, FR, MFS or other marking.

215/40 R 17 or 205/40 R 17 are fine instead of 205/40 R 17,  and you will find a choice of tyres.

Maxxis AP2 are rather good for winter, but maybe not for all year use.

If you can afford to, then just get a set of winter tyres on steel wheels. I've been running Kumho winter tyres for the last 4 years and dropped down to 16" wheels. Fantastic grip, passing 4x4s with summer tyres, it's probably the best investment you can make. Hit ice and you'll slide like everyone else, but reassuringly good tyres.
