DAB reception

Featured Replies

Is it just my car or is the DAB reception on the Columbus unit really terrible?  Even on national radio stations it loses the signal all the time, sometimes several times a minute.  It makes it impossible to listen to.

I previously had a Leon which very rarely dropped down to FM so I don't think it's the signal in my area.  Should I get it looked at?

I would get it looked at, does it happen on a specific stretch of road? Or everywhere? Also do you have a rear dash cam fitted as people have reported some rear dash cams interfere with the dab reception.

It seems to be anywhere, I've yet to go a full journey without it going off several times.  I don't have a dashcam or anything non-standard fitted.

I'm not too far from you and I don't have any problems with DAB reception. However, when I have the phone plugged in I do sometimes get a dipping in radio volume. I think this is the phone trying to give me a notification, but no beep is sounded. No problems when the phone is not connected.

I would get this checked out then, maybe the aerial isnt plugged in properly, i believe its behind the rear quarter panel.

Sounds like it's not normal, I'll get it looked at - thanks.

Not far from you, no DAB issues to be honest. Rarely lose a signal unless travelling a long distance and just lose reception. My first car DAB unit and have found it rather solid with reception.

I have one small patch on my way home where it sometimes breaks up a little, but mostly not (just a couple of days since I had it). In my case I assume it is because they have turned down the transmit power for engineering work or something. Otherwise its fine so it does seem you have an issue.

My car has noticeably poorer DAB reception than other cars. It loses reception before other cars in a poor signal area. FM seems fine.
