Karoq Transmission problem

Featured Replies

I have a question about my Karoq 1.5 TSI with DQ200 transmission gear box. When I am driving on the road, the gear box shift from D1 to D2 with high revving up to 2800 rpm or 3000 rpm. Anyone knows this condition is normal or abnormal? If it is abnormal, what is the root cause? Thanks a lot.

Welcome.

How old is your Karoq & how many miles / km has it done.  ie Is it run in?

Depends who is driving and how they are driving.  Sounds normal for a 1.0 or 1.5TSI with a DQ200,  a 1.6 TDI is different.

The DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG changes up quick from 1st to 2nd and then 3rd for economy & when coming down only goes to 1st when really slow or stopping.

How you use the accelerator makes the difference as to the up shifts.

If you are light on the throttle from stand still makes a difference to the RPM of an upshift from more accelerator input etc.

Cold starts, cold weather, engine warmed up , weight of passenger in cars etc means that they do what they do.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

I just bought this car 7 days ago, and this car is running around 280 km. I found this condition when I was driving this car alone without any loading.

4 days ago, the DSG changes up quick from 1st to 2nd. After that day, the gear box shift from D1 to D2 with high revving up to 2800 rpm or 3000 rpm ( it happened in cold start and warmed up condition). I did not do anything on my lovely car, no racing, no over revving, no over driving. I really do know what happened with gear box.

Which country are you in?

What weather / ambient temp?

Anyway, the tyre pressures need checked and reset the TPMS.

The tyres, brakes, suspension, engine and DSG are brand new and need 'Drive in / Run in'.   Brakes need to loosen off.

Give the car a 1,000 km -2,000 km till you get used to it,

and read the Owners Manual,  the DQ200 does not 'Learn',  but it has a ECU as the engine has and does 'adapt' to drivers.  Not an Internet Myth.

I know a lot less about this than Offski, but the only times I have seen high revving in low gears when lightly depressing the accelerator have been with sport mode selected. Usually be design but once by accident. It can be toggled by pulling back on the gear selector and shows up as S1,S2 etc at the top right of the display instead of D1,D2 etc.

I dont like like sport mode because it seems not to change up even if you lift off the throttle. I use it occasionally but turn it off in town.

So he may be driving in sport mode

Sounds like a problem unless you are driving in sport mode.  Although I have only driven a few miles in my Karoq, I have driven a SEAT Leon with DQ200 for the last five years.  Starting off on the level, it would change from 1st to second so quickly, you would hardly notice.  My new Karoq may not be quite as fast to change up but the revs never exceed 2000 and I don't think they get that high.  As suggested, it is dependent on how much throttle is used to take off.  I have never used sport mode except by accident when the revs seemed really high before a change took place.  Does the box stay in sport mode after the ignition is switched off?

Thank you Offski, I am used to driving this car. But I think this is not usual condition....

No, it stays in ECO mode, and I did not use sport mode for city road.

I found this condition with normal driving, I did not put too much pedal.

It's under warranty, and the problem sounds relatively easy to replicate on a test drive.

Take it back to the dealer, and let us know what they say.
