Felicia gear knob

Featured Replies

Any one got a good gear shift knob they wish to sell for a 1998 Skoda Felicia 1.3 or do you know were I may purchase a new one, please do not say EBay.

The thread has gone on my one and I can not see how it can be repaired I would like to keep my Felly STD

There are plenty for sale in Poland or Czechoslovakia but getting them to the UK is not easy or has any one had dealings in the UK with a supplier from abroad.

Cut the damaged portion. Thread a new outer thread using a proper die.

@mikefelicia - I'm not clear. Is it the thread on the gear lever (proceed as Ricardo says) or on the knob? In the latter case I think the thread is normally the same for most cars.

The internal thread in the black rubber knob has gone I have purchased a cheep new one off EBay but it do's not look very good, I was wondering if it is poss to repair but it is very deep I was wondering if putting some JB Weld epoxy resin filler into the bottom of the knob insert the steel rod with some light oil on the thread and leave 24 hours to set . I may just give it a try.

It maybe a small thing a gear knob to some people but I like my car to be right, my Felly is not a item to be scraped like a washing machine I intend to look after it 20 years down the line and to me it looks better than a lot of the new Fabia's they make now.  The only item from new is the wheels I changed a pic someone took at the Skoda gathering at Cosford.

I have used JB Weld in the past on many things and is very good it do's what it says on the pack.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes the inner thread will give the JB Weld a go.

There is no problem with ebay if you want to buy a gear knob.

I have installed 3 in my Felicia (the factory plastic was a garbage), here is the newest.

Of course i have done some modifications because the thread of the black column was damaged (NO epoxy glue) and works perfectly

i choose this one because it's robust-shiny and for the grooves which have the 2 O-rings which prevent your fingers from slipping in fast changes.

I wanted to keep my Felicia looking STD so I purchased two as the were cheep from here (bellow) with a lot of odds and sods, yes I know it is made in china but it has been on for some time and is holding up well the secret is not to screw it down to tight. I have used this company on several time and always had very good service sending to the UK some time quicker than some in the UK.

Felicia deserves a much better designed and manufactured gear knob. Although dull in appearance, the original one did well for almost 20 years. All Chinese parts made of rubber are garbage. They only look decent, yet they disintegrate quickly. Sweat and friction will eat the gear knob unless you wear gloves or barely touch it.

Well the gear knob I have is ok and like I say it has been on some time, if china products were that bad why do we buy so much stuff they even sell cars with the MG badge on the front and god knows what else. Or you could have a top of the range Range Rover made by TATA Indian owned now they are s--t my next door neighbour works there he could tell you a few stories.

Because we like cheap stuff.

You can use a glue for plastics as Bison

this will hold your knob in the column and if one day you want to remove it it wouldn't be difficult.

If you use an epoxy glue then things will be ''tougher''.
