ESC error

Featured Replies

Hi all,

On my Blackline 62 plate MK ii VRS, about two weeks ago I had an ESC error message flash up on the dashboard, along with 4 yellow lights (Power Steering, ABS, Traction Control and Tyre Pressure). A minute or so later they disappeared, so I thought OK, maybe a loose wire (since a few months ago I had a problem with rear parking sensors, showing a malfunction which turned out to be a loose connection).

Then last night the error message came back along with the 4 yellow lights and so far they haven't disappeared.   I've attached a pic of the dash.

I searched this forum for any suggestions and the only thing I saw were the posts relating to the ABS pump recall on the 09 models. If anyone has any advice or guidance I'd appreciate it, before taking to a garage.

Could be as simple as a faulty wheel sensor or corroded hub.

You need to get it scanned with VCDS or similar to see what codes are stored.

Just had same problem but my powered steering went as well, had it plugged in showed no faults.so thought maybe it's p.a.s pump.

Out of curiosity I thought I'd disconnect & reconnect my battery & it cleared all the lights & got my p.a.s back

You haven't got a p.a.s pump.

Both the MK2 and MK3 have electromechanical power steering, no pump, fluid or hydraulics involved :)
