Swapping a 245 vRS for 280 Superb dilemma

Funny cos I test drove a demo S3 310HP I was very close buying. Jumped straight out of the 230 into that. Was rather disappointed and didn't buy it as result of the test drive. It wasn't as refined on the road as the VRS, more crashy. The power feel was only slightly better , a little more urge if you floored and revved it about 4K  to red line but nothing to get excited about. I am not obsessed with 4wd, tbh not keen on Haldex, so kept that in perspective, it was that which was robbing the power making it feel not as powerful as the figures suggest. Then I go back in the VRS that was it.  Skoda cheap interior materials aside!  I then ordered a Leon Cupra 300 2WD! But like the VRS's it never materialised due to the WLTP saga, order was canceled.

Just been looking at my dyno graph from March and becomes clear where the difference is between a standard 245 and a remapped car.

Standard car at 2,000/3,000/4,000/5,000revs  100/166/216/248bhp.

Remapped car at same revs as above. 117/195/242/296bhp.

As you can see I have almost the same power at 4,000revs as the standard car produces at 5,000revs so I don't need to rev it as hard to access the performance and that is reflected in my 41mpg average, whereas when it was standard I had to rev it higher to obtain the same acceleration and my average was 37mpg. It's not about peak power but how accessible the available power is.

Why don't you swop your 245 for the 280 then swop the 280 for my 230.  My 230 doesn't have the squinty eyed looking front end.   You know it makes sense.

  • There is one condition though, Dragon Green or the deals off

Do you have to take your 245 to the dealer or are they collecting when they drop the Superb off?

Sportline with Vegas, 280 and 4x4. Very nice! What's the full spec like?

They are using an independent company to pick the Superb and deliver to me 250 miles away and then take the Octavia away with them.

Hi folks

as per title really, I have a dilemma and interested in others thoughts.

Basiclly had a FL245 estate with for just over seven months now and owned it from new.

As much as I love the car, it’s handling and overall performance, I just can’t come to love the looks.

I know now it’s a bit of a standing joke on the forum about the ghastly headlights on the Mk3 which over time I’ve started  to agree with. :D

So here’s the thing.

Ive got an opportunity to swap my car.

A straight swap from a main dealer who will take my car in exchange for their 280 Superb hatchback.

Both March 2018 cars.

My car has 4000 miles on, theirs has a few more miles, pan roof, canton and a few other gadgets.

Its not often a ‘deal’ has me tempted like this, but I had a 280 for about a month a year or so ago and absolutely loved it.

Silky smooth power, refinement and space.

No doubt the dealer will be getting the better deal as I reckon my car being rarer will attract more punters, otherwise why would they agree a swap?

Any feedback appreciated.
