My Octavia stopped yesterday- any help?

Recommended Posts

Driving home from work yesterday I noticed the engine running funny. I pulled over at a busstop and turned off the engine.

Checked for anything out of the ordinary under the hood, but could not see any loose wires or similar.

Tried to start engine again; engine turned over but did not start.

Was towed to garage and equipped with a rental car.(Brand New Octavia by the way:))

Later i brought back the laptop and VCDS to the garage, and took a scan, but I am no good at interpreting this.

Also typically 20 days after warranty is out!!!!!!

Anyone please??

Have you had the spark plugs changed on the last service? Misfire cylinder 3 could possibly be a coil pack issue? I had an issue very similar to this & my vRS was running not right (you could tell when driving) turned out to be a dodge coil pack (don't know about the 1.8TSI but just thought to share with you in-case it helps out.

Frankly I do not know what they did, the papers are still in the car.

What conserns me is that it refused to start again after I had pulled over:

Update:

Loaded the rental Octavia with some toolboxes and the VCDS with the latest version uploaded, and aimed for the garage earlyer today.
Found my car still on the lot and did a new autoscan: same result as before. Tried to start the car: same result: turning but not firing.

Decided to swap coil 3 and 2 in case I get another misfire: If the Coil is the problem, the New fault will show sylinder 2.
Found out that it is along time since I had to repair cars: I did not have a plugwrench that was narrow enough to reach the sparkplug!!

Deleted ALL faults, new autoscan: all faults cleared!

Tried to start again: after ca 8 sek. just before I turned off the starter again I heard one or two firings.
Next start attempt: a few more firing: pressed the accellerator a little bit and BAM: WE HAVE IGNITION!! mrgrin.gif mrgrin.gif mrgrin.gif mrgrin.gif mrgrin.gif

It started and almost immediately running perfect. It smelled gas but hey: 4 or 5 startattempts with no luck have to leave som leftover gas.

Now I am back at home, the rental is delivered, and my car has run about two hours with NO problems.

Fingers crossed!

Last last news:

The dealer wanted the car in as I had used the Skoda Mobility Guarantee when towed.

Something about they had to pay the tow because they had the last service, but if they checked the car they get a refund from the import company.

Anyway they did not find anything wrong. ( I did delete all faults on sunday when I picked up the car so kind of expected this)

Do not know if it is good or bad, but at least the dealer has given the green light for driving on.

Had a trip today about. 800km with trailer and 9 hours driving:  No problems of any kind:)
