CV boot

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anyone know what the CV boot diameter is on a mark 1 Fabia vrs se.

Also apd the split boots any good.

Thanks

They are 98mm iirc but do yourself a favour, buy a genuine kit. They are about £20 retail and not worth faffing around with split boots.

Just done an outer one on a Mk2 TDI Greenline using a replacement boot that slides over a long white cone. Hardest part was fitting/securing the clamps as they probably need special tool to action, but I used a set of old bull nosed pliers.

Stay clear of the split boots. I’d go stretchy boot. Less chance of buggering your joint up try Ming separate it.

No need for a fancy stretching tool find yourself a road cone cut the the right amount of to fit the c.vjoint.

It will be tight ,a nice amount of grease on the cone and some big muscles It will go.

Male sure you fit it inside out so when it’s on you can flip it the correct way if you know what I mean

Grease was recommended/supplied for cone but I used washing up liquid as once fitted the and turned back outside in you would end up with the boot outer face coated with grease. Hopefully someone will confirm that this is acceptable and the washing up liquid won't attack the rubber boot.

It will not attack the boot, however it will bind to the grease if it gets inside the joint, I would advise using grease since it's easy to clean off afterwards once the boot is sealed.
