MKII 1.4 TSI problems [help]

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

This is my first post here, I bought a Skoda Octavia 1.4 TSI DSG 59 plate about two weeks ago,

I was looking thru the posts on this forum and they were really helpful,

I have some "problems" with it, maybe you can help me,

1. The passenger seat belt sensor is not working, I mean when someone gets in the front passenger seat, it will not notify me that he is not wearing his seat belt, is that a normal thing in the Octavia, or I am the only one that have this issue, and is there any way to activate the sensor ?

2. I started two/three days ago to hear a sound when I apply the brake (clunk or tick) I tried to see exactly when and how, so I braked couple of times when I was parking near home, so once I apply the brake easily I hear the "clunk", it doesn`t need to fully apply it, just by touching it lightly you will hear the sound, any one knows why ?

3. I have bolero head unit, it came without Bluetooth, how can I add the Bluetooth module to it?

I have searched here, and found that the modules costs somewhere near £200-£300 to buy and fit, is there any way to do it for less money ? ( I have found something similar to a stick that can be plugged from backside of the unit but I don't know if it will help me to connect my phone to make calls and play music and I don't know exactly if it fits in bolero units, in the advert they mentioned that it works with Skoda Octavia MKII)

Thank you every one, and I`m looking forward to hearing from you.

Pleased to join you.

Welcome.

The brake one might be easy, check how much meat left on the brake pads & maybe do a service on the brakes.

Parrot units do Bluetooth with a harness for cars. I took one out of our 2008 MK5 Golf. It was just plug and play. Not sure if it's compatible with your car. I did list it in the for sale this year. No idea if streams. I would say not really.

3)

If you want to do it on the cheap, you can buy a bluetooth adaptor. I used for this for a few months and it worked well enough  https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009NLTW60

This is only an option if you have an AUX input, my did in the jumbo box.

Later i upgraded to a fiscon+ because i wanted to use the the HU and have the address book in the HU, rather than faff about with my phone. connects to the Bolero and has worked fine for me for years, but as you said its expensive.

I have the same clicking. You just need to gently push on the pedal without really applying the brake to make the noise. I also had it on the clutch pedal but that has now stopped.  It is the end of the pedal spring sticking/moving when the pedal starts to move. Garage told me they could replace the spring but to try a bit of grease first. That fixed the clutch pedal and I have yet to do the brake pedal.

If this is your problem then you can make the noise with the engine off and it is easier to hear. If not, then follow the other suggestions.

I was thinking the same, because they seem to be old, I will change them as soon as I can,

thank you.

I now about parrot units, but they will not stream music, and they will not give me access to change from the head unit,

Thank you for your help,

Thank you for your help, but this adaptor will not give me access to change from the head unit, I think that I will go for the full module,

But the thing I`m not sure for which one should I go, does the fiscon+ works with iphone ?

what do you think about Connects2 https://www.carcommunications.co.uk/skoda-bluetooth/connects2-bluetooth-a2dp-interfaces-adaptor-for-skoda-ctaskbt001

Thank you again.

Thank you for your response,

The sound is not there when the engine is off, I was thinking about the brake pads/discs, but the thing is when I have the engine on and parked I will not hear the noise, it is there only when I am driving (no matter what speed even if it is 2mph) and press the break the clunk noise will be heard,

does that make any sense ?

thank you.

Hi

I don't have an iphone (thankfully) :)

You could send an email to https://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/ which is where i bought mine, no links to this company at all so shop around. Maybe even buy an OEM BT unit, its close in price so might be a better choice though i have no experince of that route but there are plenty on here that could help.

I can stream HQ music via BT and this unit and make calls etc from the Bolero. One thing I cant do and it does annoy me is the title of the music isnt sent to the headunit and i cant FFWD/SKIP etc from the HU as that has to be done from the phone. The feature is AVRCP (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bluetooth_profiles#Audio/Video_Remote_Control_Profile_(AVRCP))  and the fiscon unit doesn't do it but the OEM units might (I dont know).
