I need a new wiper arm for the front windshield (driver position). I have bought two already, but both are missing the grooves of the original where it is fastened to the car and the diameter of the pin, holding the blade, is just too large. Where can I find one that will fit?

According to this site:

you need either 1Z1955410A or 1Z2955410A, either of which are listed as being fitted to ALL MK2 Octavias.

 

I'd be inclined to do two things:

1) inspect the spindle of the wiper motor to see if the splines on there are worn and/or

2) take your car to a Skoda dealer and get them to identify the correct part.
