J492, Control unit for four wheel drive? 8-way connector with 7 wires?

What colour wires do you have in the loom?

Circuit I'm looking at says:

Pin 1 black/green from fuse 231, ignition 12V

Pin2 brown earth

Pin 3 red/black from brake light switch pin 4

pin 4 brown/yellow from handbrake warning switch pin 1 and dash panel insert pin 13 of 32b Conn.

pin 5 grey/white to pin 7 of diagnostic connector

pin 7 orange/brown CANL

pin 8 org/black CANH

Well, encouragingly it looks like the car wiring matches the colours I've found. What's the history of the Haldex unit, is it from a different car?

First photo on this post on Vortex shows a Haldex connector with wire colours like yours. Even the pin numbers on the connector are 'just about' visible. To my eyes it looks like the top row of pins in the picture are labelled 1, 3, 5, 7 from front to back of image, so the row beneath will be 2, 4, 6, 8.

See if you can work out the correspondence from this and my circuit info.

Here's the photo with numbers added for the top row. Don't take my word for this, my eyesight isn't by any means perfect:

Let me try to match them up for you.

Black/green from pin 1 of connector on circuit diagram (and the left in your photo), to red on the right in your photo (pin 1 of photo that I've numbered)

Brown from pin 2 of connector on circuit diagram (and the left in your photo), to black on the right in your photo (pin 2 of photo that I've numbered)

Red/black from pin 3 of connector on circuit diagram (and the left in your photo), to white on the right in your photo (pin 3 of photo that I've numbered)

Brown/yellow from pin 4 of connector on circuit diagram (and the left in your photo), to blue on the right in your photo (pin 4 of photo that I've numbered)

Grey/white from pin 5 of connector on circuit diagram (and the left in your photo), to brown on the right in your photo (pin 5 of photo that I've numbered)

Orange/brown from pin 7 of connector on circuit diagram (and the left in your photo), to blue/grey? on the right in your photo (pin 7 of photo that I've numbered)

Orange/black from pin 8 of connector on circuit diagram (and the left in your photo), to blue/red on the right in your photo (pin 8 of photo that I've numbered)

I may not have got the stripe colours exactly right on the twisted blue CAN wires from the Haldex unit, as they're dirty in your photo, and not too clear in the Vortex forum photo, but I think if you clean them up on your car it will be clear which is which.
