'Allegedly' stronger!

You might be thinking or hearing about 1.4 TSI / TFSI twinchargers CAVE / CTHE 180ps and their wee fundamental design and manufacturing faults.

The Seat Ibiza 1.4 TSI FR 150ps was / is a wee cracker, as were various other 1.4 TSI 122ps, 140/150ps.

@Roottootemoot Don't get me wrong, the 1.4 TSI is indeed brilliant! In fact the Polo Blue GT was for a long time the car I wanted (until I got my Fabia) but the point of my comment was the 1.2 TSI has a very strong basis to run up to 200 bhp so let's all get cracking and give our Fabias the power Skoda should've given it

@Fab1493 unfortunately due to other car projects I haven’t had the time nor money.

However i I have also been reading into it a bit more, you’re correct in saying the 1.2 TSI is incredibly strong, JBS advise to not go over 200 bhp to ensure it’s reliable, despite this on stock internals the engine can cope with up to around 300 bhp (this is done with porting and polishing the head and meth injection along with the hybrid turbo etc) if you were to forge the engine you’re looking at 400 bhp plus with the correct upgrades but then you’re talking silly money, as well as having to upgrade brakes/chassis. The engine will be fine up to 270 bhp.

As for your turbo, although the 1.4 turbo may be a straight swap you’ll still be unlikely to see the 200 bhp results you want, a 1.4 TSI stage 1 map only gets around 175 bhp. I had a quote from turbo dynamics for around £360 to turn the 1.2 TSI into a hybrid, I didn’t think this was bad considering the craftsmanship that goes into it! Then you’ll definitely see the 200 bhp you want.

Your gearbox/driveline should be fine, the only thing I’d advise is a performance clutch, although the standard one will be okay if you don’t abuse it. You will probably want to run the cooling system for the turbo on a separate water system and upgrade the pre charge cooler too.

Hope this helps and let me know how you get on!

Ask JBS where this 300bhp 1.2tsi is as the record is 243 if I remember correctly and why would you need to forge an engine that’s already forged?

@Adam1200 what exactly does Turbo Dynamics do for that? Surely that is only the actual work to be done on the turbo and not actually fitting etc right?

@AMD87 yeah the max I've seen is 246 bhp and 366 nm all being run by a 1.2 TSI Ibiza with stock internals, stock 5 speed gearbox and stock clutch

@RoottootemootI've seen that estate before! It looks awesome!

@Fab1493 This is what I was quoted “Parts would include a lightweight billet aluminium compressor wheel, upgraded 360 thrust bearing, new seals and service bearings.”

@AMD87 Pretty sure it’s the one that was running 243 bhp. Only what I’ve read on YouTube but the guy seems pretty genuine!BA41FD33-2EAD-49AA-8F9F-17230A3392A6.thumb.png.02bd80d6cffa2a494732a6cb8f6db5bb.png84713F41-3F92-4AF2-AF1A-CFB4C82FC3B5.thumb.png.294cc8fd756dd277f9a6174f2dd875ee.png
