Regen frequency VRS

Featured Replies

I've noticed that it's doing an active regen more frequently after a remap three weeks ago. Prior to that using a 3 channel box. How often do you see an active regen for 12 month / sub 50k miles engine?

I've started using VAGDPF, last regen was only 200 or so miles ago, vcdf shows different which is odd...

My 38.5k 3yr old does maybe 1 a week, did 100mile trip today and it was on when I got home (typical) but they’re few and far between tbh.

I am ever conscious of it needing a good razz occasionally, thankfully I don’t live too far away from a 60mph dual carriageway:giggle:

What was it like with your box, regens as frequent? Could potentially be the map when you think the ecu has been modified: more power etc = more regens?

I didn't notice excessive regen frequency with the box, but I wasn't using the app to monitor it. Going to take map off for couple of weeks and see how it goes.

What is your interval mileage? Mine is doing it every 200-300 miles and I drive up and down the M4 every day, typically 500 miles a week

Mines probably about the same tbh, I do about 250miles a week at which a regen occurs once within that window. Ocassionally it’s spread over ten days but just depends if I’ve had a few motorway/long fast driving jaunts.

Same. 200 to 300 miles is normal for me.

The time between regens dépends on how successful the previous regeneration was.

If it completed fully, you might have e.g. 500-600miles before the next regen.

If the regeneration was only 40% completed, your next regen will come sooner after perhaps 200miles.

Regeneration should be looked at like fuel economy (average over several weeks or tanks) to get a true picture of the average.

So today a trip from west Wales to Birmingham and back. It did a regen about a third of the outward, but not at 100% full and only 16 or so g of soot. Second screenshot is after the regen, which was completed whilst driving at 60 on the M42. It didn't completely zero the soot level, us that normal?? Third screenshot just now when I got home. Dpf has more soot and higher % full yet no regen.

Driving style same both directions though more stop start jams on return....

So the question is, why is it not doing a full regen?

I'm going to have to take the map off and run it standard for 1000 miles and what pattern I get.
