VRS Estate,diesel or petrol

Featured Replies

Went to have a look at a limited edition vrs estate,[diesel] yesterday. It was in good nick, new tyres defo wanted, and a bit of surface rust on a small part of the sill.

Main question is,what to look for.Never drove a skoda before. The car is in the 140's mileage wise, that doesn't bother me.It's got full service history with last service in May 2018,the timing belt and water pump done 20,000 mls ago.

I didn't have time to test drive it,''my decision'' as it was rush hour traffic time...will be doing that at the weekend.

Another thing is,I only do about 7000 mls a year,it concerns me whether I'll have any problem with the dpf:devil:,as I don't particularly do much motorway driving, especially in winter....I must admit I do like petrol motors, but as with everything, you always hear the bad things about every brand, model etc/

Reason I started thinking outside the box regarding a skoda was,I like the thought of driving round in an unassuming looking car,but when you want a bit of safe driving fun,it's there:rofl:.

I'm not rolling in dosh so I'm limited with budget, but could probably go to about 4k,but seeing that I'm a Yorkshireman and careful with dosh, cheaper would be better:biggrin:'

So ,what do you say

Cheers

M

What age / model are you looking at?

My last car was a 59 plate VRs Octavia ll Face lift estate 2.0 Crdi and I loved it.

I only got rid due to a few minor niggles, if I'd have bought one in better condition I think I'd still have it now.

Like you I only average around 6500 miles a year so didn't warrant a diesel. I only had short commutes too but never suffered any dpf problems, never even had the light come on.

(I did have it Terracleaned as a preventative maintenance measure with the dpf back pressure status checked and all was fine).

In hindsight though I should have gone for the 2.0 Tsi petrol which I'm sure I would be driving now.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Hopefully theres more up and coming.

I only had a choice of 2 when I was looking and that was a National search on AutoTrader! I was specifically looking for a Black Vrs diesel estate

If I'd have had more choice I'd probably of found a better example but it is what it is.

Hopefully plenty more fish as they say, good luck in your search!
