AppleCar play and wireless charging.

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I’m very new here, so hello everyone. I’ve had our mkIII sportline estate 220tsi for just ove a year now and love it far more than my old BMW 220d msport 3 series touring. I’ve recently upgraded my phone (of all things) and have come across a problem. I’ve got the wireless Phonebox charging which still seems to charge the phone, even when it is plugged in and I’m using apple car play. The phone is getting almost double charged and is overheating in the box. You can’t turn off the wireless charging option off on the iPhone, and there is no option to turn it off in the car menus. Has anyone come across this, or have any ideas?

Thanks so much.

Overheating?

I use it like that every day and never had the phone more warm than a normal charge. The software controls charge so its not just double charging.

It’s strange. It works for about an hour and then the phone slows and overheats...I can only think it’s getting powered by both the cable and wirelessly. Maybe I’ll do a software update...

The heating may come from running carplay and apps. Because the phonebox does not have ventilation, phone overheats and slows down.
