Ambient Lighting & Driving Modes

Featured Replies

I took delivery of my Superb Sportline on Thursday. Loving it so far!

Veen trying to make sense of the manual, which is written in awful language! In particular in implies that you can have different ambient light colours assigned to the driving modes (page 74). Is this possible and if so, how?

I believe that feature is available for MY19 cars which it sounds like yours is. I've not yet picked mine up but I believe if you go to the driving modes page on the touchscreen you might find the options in there

Ah! Actually mine isn’t MY19, it was a car that was in stock so is MY18. Maybe that’s why I can’t find it in the menus....

I have a April 2018 plate and can change the ambient light colours

Not sure what MY model it is though

Its under Vehicle, Settings, Background Lighting on my car

I can change them manually as you describe. My question was about assigning colours to driving modes.

Yes, you can, I have Blue on my profile and Red for the Wife

You just need to save the personalisation to the profile being used by the key

That’s still not the same thing.

On MY19 (and beyond, probably) cars, the Ambient Lighting has an “Auto” setting, where it will turn red for Sport Mode, Green for ECO, blue for Standard, or something along those lines.

That’s not available on earlier models.

Though it might be hidden in the codes somewhere, since Seats have been equipped with this gimmick for quite some time now, as I seem to recall.

MY16 - 3 colours only

MY17 - 10 colours

MY18 - 10 colours, plus matching MFD

MY19 - 10 colours, matching MFD, plus drive-mode based.

check the build plate to find out when ur car was built, then u can determine the Model Year.

the build plate is found at the base of the B-pillar, in my case - driver's side.

for example mine was built in Mar 2017, hence making it an MY17.

model years usually run from Sept to July, with a shutdown (changeover in August)......give or take a month.

Is it possible to increase MY16 3 colors to 10 with matching MFD.

straight plug'n'play swap - no

i believe u need to upgrade/change the Gateway.

MY15 & MY16 Gateway cannot do 10 or more colours ambient lighting.

i also believe the RGB controller in for each LED strip needs to be changed to.

I have upgraded the mib 2.5 and VC also the gateway and BCM.

Now I'm getting around 8 color in my 2016 skoda superb.

Also colors in VC according to ambient color.

But not able to get drive mode color in VC.

LIKE green for eco

Red for sports

Blue for normal

My 68 plate has drive mode based as I changed it to the same colour regardless of mode. Mine is a November car though.

Not sure about MFD though, will have to check.

@Dooge - sorry, I don't know wat "68 plate" means or refers to as the rest of the world doesn't use that.

As for Model Years - they (factory) change over usually after factory holiday shutdown around July or August.

Hence they start manufacturing  MY19 models from the second half of 2018, after the factory reopens.

Sorry JR. In the UK cars registered in the 6 months from 1st March until 31st August have the same designation, I.E. a 2018 car will have 18 in the registration number.

The 6 months from 1st September until 28th February the following year will be designated differently which started in 2001 so 2001 is 51, 2002 is 52, etc. This is why we are now seeing 74 registered cars on the road.

This doesnt necessarily help with build dates though, especially as some cars could sit in stock for X amount of time (for example, its quite well known Porsche are sitting on older Taycans)

Cars are registered for 4 reasons:

Bought it, built it, rebuilt or altered it or imported it so Id assume the car wont be registered until someone purchases the vehicle.

Where would you find a cars build date?

Thanks for the explanation

The cars build date is on the bottom of the b-pillar door frame.

Is it possible to enable VC color change according to drive modes selected. Skoda superb 2017.
