Battery drains in a few days

Featured Replies

Hello,

I bought Seicane ”In Dash DVD Player GPS Navigation For 2009-2016 Skoda Yeti Superb Rapid Radio Bluetooth Phone Support SD AUX DVR Rearview Camera” (https://www.seicane.com/in-dash-dvd-player-gps-navigation-for-2009-2016-skoda-yeti-superb-rapid-radio-bluetooth-phone-support-sd-aux-dvr-rearview-camera-sc66). After installation I have big problem: the device drains the battery of my Skoda. The radio consumes current all time, also when ignition is off (key off). The consumption is so high, that the battery goes empty in two or three days when the car is not in use.

Now I hope, that somebody of you would liike to help me! I need to know, how to change connections of my Seicane device so, that when I switch engine off, also Seicane device goes off. I mean that the current of Seicane device is behind ignition switch.

I know that it is question of the connection of CAN BUS box of the Seicane DVD/Radio. Unfortunately I know nothing of CAN BUS. So I don’t know, what to do.

Help me, please!

Best Regards

Aimo

fit a blackvue power magic pro.

Using something like the power magic pro probably isn't a good idea. Even if it can provide enough power for the headunit it'll probably reset the settings and time whenever it cuts the power.

@aimorautiola - you should contact the seller for support. Did it come with a manual?

Given the age of your car a new CAN gateway might also solve the issue assuming it's the normal 'missing message' issue that occurs on earlier cars with newer headunits.

There might be a hidden setting in the headunit to get it working properly, again, the seller or manual should be able to confirm.

You can probably remove the CAN-bus interface and just used a switched ignition feed to turn it on/off. This will stop any communication with the car so steering wheel buttons, parking sensors, vehicle information will no longer be shown.

Many thanks for your comment. I have contacted the seller. They promised to send a new CAN BUS box.
