Front left electric window regulator replacement

Featured Replies

So the front left window regulator failed on my W reg fabia, I've managed to source the replacement part fairly cheaply and am about to embark on replacing mine, I understand that I may have to tackle some pop rivits, are there any decent videos of the whole process floating about on here? An extensive search of YouTube has not revealed any to me so any help will be greatly appreciated

Just done mine the other week. As your car is W-reg it should have bolted door ancillary carriers which makes it easier. Is your window trapped in the bottom of the door? Mine was and I had to drill out the four regulator rivets to get the panel off. I fitted a whole new panel with regulator already assembled on it.

It was stuck at the bottom, however, we've managed to free the mechanism by drilling the pop rivits out of the speaker housing and lifting the pane up manually and taping it shut for now. The part that I've sourced is the whole panel with the regulator attached, is there any reason why self tapping screws can't be used to reattach the speaker housing?

None at all, as long as its water tight.

I used short nuts and bolts for the speaker.
