lambda probe woes

Featured Replies

Does anyone out there know if it is a common fault on 1.4 mpi fabias around 4 years old and with 24000 miles on the clock to have lambda probe faults appearing on the fault memory which eventually bring on the dreaded check engine light? I have read the memory and the codes all appear to relate to the lambda probes of which I understand there to be 2 ,one before the cat and one after. Garage read and cancelled them while under warranty but now its out of warranty they are starting to appear a lot more often!!!!! cheers........

When Autocar did a brief used car write up on the Fabia a while ago the Lambda sensors were the only fault they mentioned.

I'm curious as to why the dealer didn't replace the sensors when the wrning lights were showing under warranty - it seems a little short-sighted as that sort of thing isn't something I'd expect to fix itself.

Hi Mate

What I would do if I was you is get in touch with Customer Care on 0845 7745745 and explain to them what the problem is.

When the 3 years warranty is up it does not mean full stop.

There is such a thing as a customer care claim.

Explain to them that they cancelled the fault before as there may be a record of it on their computer.

You may get some help towards it.

They are very good.

They will ask some questions about the car , but hey for 5 mins and a call it is worth a try.
