Clutch failure 62000 miles full history

Featured Replies

Clutch started to make a slight tapping noise .Let my mechanic look at it he said I think it’s your DMF starting to go.luckly I booked it in for new DMF clutch kit .On removal the Skoda fitted clutch Sachs had failed and nearly scored through into my gearbox. He showed me the damage and said he had the same thing happen last week bang same clutch but the ring didn’t brake on that one .But worked it way out.6DA83401-A841-407F-904A-35347931C8C6.thumb.jpeg.764d8b8ed81a26a3224cfa05797bce28.jpeg5731FC34-BCF5-488F-BD02-79AEE411CA88.thumb.jpeg.ecdf453a58c26b95aaf1b8ceed9cfad7.jpeg

You have been very lucky to catch it before it machined through the gearbox

About time VAG acknowledged this common and very expensive quality issue on the 2.0tdi / manual. Why should customers pay for the shoddy not fit for purpose clutches fitted at the factory? Some have had thousands of pounds worth of damage (gearbox written off)

Best about it is the advert for the car when we bought it

Skoda UK know about this issue, but as all affected cars are well out of warranty they don't care. You're on your own unless you're lucky enough to have the Skoda approved used warranty, and even then you'll likely have a fight on your hands.
