fabia 1.4 EGR VALVE??

Featured Replies

hi all

i have a 1.4 fabia 16v 2002 with an engine managment light on dash,

ive had this diagnosed and been told its an EGR valve fault.

is this just likely to be clogged up with crap or will it defo need replacing?

if so how much should i expect to pay and where can i get one?

thanks in advance for any response

jim

We've had a similar problem on my wife's 2001 16v. From my experience I would expect the valve is just clogged up but I'm not sure how viable cleaning it is - we had ours replaced under warranty.

We've had a number of other parts of the emission control system cleaned or replaced over the last year or so and the warning light is on yet again now. How much build up of gunk do you get at the oil filler cap? - ours is quite bad, despite the car doing long runs on a daily basis and being serviced by a main dealer.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on in the longer term.

I would imagine the EGR port under the throttle body is clogged up.

Does your car use oil?
