Ambient lighting

Featured Replies

What Karoq models have ambient and footwell lighting? Have just taken delivery of 1.5SEL and it does not have - when ordered in July it was in brochure spec.

Hi, congrats on your new Karoq!

Have you checked the settings of interior lighting? It could be just switched off. I think it should be installed in SEL.

I recently specced up an SE L and if I remember correctly had to add the ambient lighting.

If so that is another example of something in the brochure that Skoda change on a whim between ordering and delivery. Like someone else had with expecting both front seats to be electric.

Just checked and if that is the same as the LED interior lighting package it is £250 extra. And downloaded the specification and pricing and it's the Scout, Sportline and Edition that gets it as standard.

So come on folks....

how do the SEL Peasants add it!

Skoda UK reserve the right to change the specification of their products at any time, without notice. As stipulated in all of their literature.

However, if at the time of paying my deposit and ordering the car, at an agreed price that reflected the specification as advertised at that time, the specification was changed between that point and delivery I'd expect to be...

1) Told, and...

2) Refunded or compensated.

If the LED ambient lighting option was advertised as being standard on the SE L at the time of ordering, but your car turned up without it then the dealer has provided you with a product not as described.

You therefore have the right to reject, which for the dealer is a right royal pain, and I'm assuming is something neither of you really want, but it might be enough for them to do the right thing.

Two options...

1) Roll over and accept it.

2) Dig in and fight for what's right.

In the July pricing and specification list (UK version) LED interior light package (which AFAIK provides ambient and footwell lighting) was not standard on SEL but an extra, for £350 inc VAT.  See attached.

Right....let’s stop messing about quoting this and that. Suggesting cars are rejected or going to court etc that’s not going to work.

What we we need to do is to switch the Karoq forum to be like the early days of the Yeti forum where people worked out how to fix things and to add features etc

There are lots of ex Yeti owners on here and more transitioning and more will over time

the a Yeti forum gave great advice and still does.....same can happen with this forum

just my two penneth....as they say

The Yeti forum was also well known to be quite insular and a bit clicky.

Times change.

It's quite ironic that your post complains about the input from others not being helpful, yet your post adds nothing to the OP's concerns.

You may live in a world surrounded by soft and fluffy things, but in the real world arming yourself with knowledge and not simply rolling over and accepting the duff information spouting out from the dealer network (and sometimes on internet forums) can result in a more desirable outcome.

If the OP has indeed been misold (still to be determined) then he's well within his rights to do what it takes to get it resolved to his satisfaction.

You are right in that the Yeti forum - particularly in the early days - was very helpful and detail technically oriented. The yeti is also not a "mainstream" vehicle, and the Yeti owners a rather select few, who recognized the brilliant compromise the Yeti is. Now, the Karoq has become a mainstream vehicle in the flood of SUV/Cross-overs offered. So the majority of posts here concern themselves with minor details and faults, and not much about the basic design and technology.

Fortunately, The Karoq really is just a Yeti on an MQB platform, 60 mm longer wheelbase and a more practical boot size - and a bland "me too" body design, following the Tiguan, Q-series and Ateca formula.

Silver 1011, I am of the same mind as you, but both Skoda UK and my weasly dealer are not. My spec was changed after the order was placed, and the car arrived without items listed in the spec at the time of order...and the price paid did not reflect the omissions of the parts...a brochure total of aroud £500.

Skoda tell me that they 'do not price their cars based on the spec', but offered me £100 to spend within the dealer network...so a 'generous' offer worth an actual value to Skoda probably considerably less than £100. I rejected the offer, and having been bounced from the Skoda UK Managing Director's office back through the my lame Skoda Customer Care agent (or whatever), to my local dealer who has no concept of lifetime customer value, post-sales follow-up, or the content of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which states that

Products must be:

  • Of satisfactory quality
  • Fit for purpose, and
  • As described

...mine does not meet the third requirement.

I am now looking into whether the next step is through a legal channel or the Motor Ombudsman

I'm certainly not known for rolling over in a fluffy world....in fact just the opposite....and i can think of a couple of people who know me and read this forum will have had a wry chuckle.

We live in the real world where fact and detail count and only fact and detail count.  I suggest Skoda will be water tight in their contract clauses so there is no point in thinking about litigation unless you have a fully proven case. In another post someone went to the Ombudsman with what  they beleived to be a strong case and lost. In other words, only start something you have a real chance of winning and if you can't win but want a feature then find a way to do it.

I have given lots of advice and received lots of advice from such forums. My advice to the OP in this case is clear. Unless you can prove your loss or misrepresentation walk away. Life's too short. If you can prove your loss then by all means determine the value of that loss and seek compensation or redress

I do agree with you that the Yeti forum could be cliquey but i do miss the many positives
