Quality replacement door locks

Featured Replies

Hi all would like to finally replace my door locks, tried soldering them worked for awhile but now 3 of 4 don't respond to the fob, can anyone suggest a trusted source for quality replacements, only want to do this job once so would like a reliable replacement.

Are you sure this isn't because of a soggy control module - are your carpets wet?

Common issue with the MKI

I don't think so resealed the pollen filter housing and dried things out in 2012 when I got the car and over that time the door locks went one by one, I have unplugged the doors electrically manually they work fine, courtesy lights and mirror lights work fine, no other associated issues. I have had all three out over the years and they have worked for some time after being re-soldered.

The eBay locks are listed for the B5.5 Passat which is fine but there are a myriad of sellers and prices seem to vary quite a bit, I was looking to see if anyone found a decent quality replacement from a reliable seller.

This forum is gone really quiet the last few years I guess some of the posters have moved on.

I am afraid this a common issue - the Superb I (and Passat B5, Audi A4 of the same vintage etc...) is prone to the plenum chamber flooding when the drain channels block with leaves and debris leaving the battery, servo and pollen filter sitting in water. Remove the cover and car battery to check. As well as a water finding it's way into the cabin (the pollen filter seal is well documented see below) it can cause other damage eg rusting through the brake servo causing brake issues or even sucking water back up to the vacuum pump.

I'll be interested to find out if you find a good one.  I replaced my passenger door lock 2 years ago, but alas, it has stopped working again on the key fob.

I don't know if the water ingress causes the problem, but I am fixing that again at the moment as well.

Yes water ingress will cause this problem
