Should I by 2011 superb elegance 1.8tsi

Featured Replies

Hello, Iv got a friend who is selling a superb elegance 1.8 tsi (2011). It's a stunning car inside and I love it but it's currently having the engine taken apart and having new piston seals and rods changed because it was leaking an burning oil and new chain. It's done 96000. What I would like to know is will it happen again and is it worth buying for £2500??

Even if they fit it with same quality components that it left the factory with, then its fair to assume that the piston seals are going to last another 96,000 miles, making the £2,500 asking price a bargain.

I'd risk it, but you should still familiarise yourself with this thread to ensure the work being done will address the well known and well documented weaknesses with the 1.8 TSI...

Welcome.

Asking price is a bargain if the engine re-builder gives some sort of guarantee on their work.

?

How much is the friend paying to have this done so that they can get shot of the car?
