Skoda octavia RS timing chain tensioner

Featured Replies

Hello,

so i am looking for skoda octavia rs tsi 2.0. And have seen they're having problems with timing chain tensioner, but so far i've seen reports only for models up to 2014. So my question did they try to fix anything in newer models (2015-2018)? is this known for all generation of ea888 engines?

thank you for answers and sorry for my english

I think from looking at them myself with a view to buying, the 2015 on models have a belt, not a chain.

If I am wrong it is still a different engine and does not suffer from this problem.

I just can't afford the Mk3!

MK3 RS or VRS 2.0 TSI is EA888 Gen 3. There are no known common issues with Timing chain failure. This was a common problem on the MK2 facelift which was Gen 2 EA888.

2015 models onwards do not have a belt. They are all still chain on this engine.

Mines is a 63 and has the modified tensioner
