Black Magic Paint Guide

Featured Replies

Pictures will follow but here are the steps. All products were from www.polishedbliss.co.uk

The process was...

Wash

Car rinsed with power washer

P21S Total Auto Wash applied to all trims and inside the arches

Car foamed with Poorboy's Slick n Suds shampoo using Karcher foam gun ( dilluted in foam attachment 1:4 with water)

Foam left to dwell for 10 mins (1st tea break!)

Car rinsed with low pressure hose

Car refoamed, then washed using lambswool mitts and rinse buckets

Car rinsed with low pressure hose

Car dried with waffle weave towels and moved inside

Clean

All paintwork clayed using Blackfire Clay Bar and Blackfire Clay Lubricant (the amount of contamination was unreal, we had to bin the clay after finishing - the dirtiness of the clay and the desire to be quick also resulted in a lot of severe marring (hazing), which would have scared the hell of most people, but I wasn't worried as I knew the next step would correct it).

Polish

Paint thickness tested using PosiTest gauge. All trims and window rubbers then taped off using 3M 3434 masking tape. All paintwork then polished with Menzerna Intensive Polish using 6.5" Lake Country light cut pads. Swapped to 4" pads for dealing with specific scratches. Residues removed using super thick n plush towels. All paintwork then glazed with Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze using 6.5" Lake Country glazing pads. Residues removed using super thick n plush towels.

Protect

All paintwork treated to a coat of Menzerna FMJ, applied by foam pad and buffed using mega plush towels.

Finishing Touches

All masking tape removed and windows wiped down with damp work towels. Exhaust tip cleaned with Autosol, wheels polished and protected with Klasse All In One. Tyres dressed with Meguiars Endurance Gel.

Happy days (and tired arms!).

But seriously, you can pc my pappap in return fir a beer and pub lunch, and shouldn't you be at school??

How long did that all take? I take my hat off to you if you did it in freezing tempratures too!

I'm just waiting for the weather to warm up before I do a marathon session on mine. Hopefully soon as it hasn't been waxed since Nov. last year!!

Problem is that the wax I have doesn't bond to the paintwork unless temp is above 10 degrees C:(

yeh it was a good contrast:)

thinking of asking if they can fit it with window tints:rolleyes:

It took around 6 1/2 hours from start to finish. It was in a real state when we started, not a single swirl mark when we finished.

Good results!

Just spent a good 3 hours washing & waxing today whilst I could.

Meguiars Gold Class Wash followed by a wax with Collinites Auto Wax.

But now it's started to rain! :( However, the water just beads up & glides off!!
