Steering creaking off centre

Featured Replies

Hi,

The steering on our 2010 combi (116,000 miles)  has started making an odd creaking/groaning noise when turned for the first degree or two off centre. Its only barely audible when driving very slow. I tried to check the power steering fluid, but couldn't find it (maybe the car has electric steering!?!). When turning full lock slow turns I think I also detect a little roughness, which suggests CV joints wear right?

Any help appreciated.

Matt

As you suspected - Yes, the Superb is fully electric steering so you can write the power steering fluid off the list.

May be this thread will help/shed some light: Noise when stationary and when turning the wheel

Funny I couldn't find that when I searched. Thanks very much, looks like a top strut bearing or two....

Cheers

Matt
