Scout Suspension OEM vs ???

Recommended Posts

hi guys

Looking for advice on options when replacing suspension on a MK2 Scout.

Car has stock shocks and OEM springs.

Car has now covered 163,000 miles.

Front shocks slightly weeping.

One rear spring recently broken at the bottom (last couple of inches).

So need to replace the rear springs and probably do the rear shocks at the same time given the mileage.

Is OEM the only option for a Scout?

Are there other manufacturers that are recommended based on experience?

Cheers

I bought Lesjofors rear springs for mine, they list the heavy duty ones fitted for certain other markets, the Swedes know a bit when it comes to steel! They were only €20 each or so delivered.

Unladen ride comfort unchanged, ride height slightly higher, laden they are far superior than the stock springs.

Bought them from Q-parts 24 in Germany http://qp24.de

When I had a scout I wanted to replace the rear springs and dampers as I towed a caravan, I found that all pattern parts even from big brand names were not the same spec for a scout most were just heavy duty items fo an Octavia so i went to TPS and bought OE parts

thanks @patrolman - tried my local one previously when changing CV joint - they wouldn't sell the parts to me.

Would be great if Briskoda could manage to wangle something for members....
