passenger side air vent on full blast

Featured Replies

when I select reverse, my passenger side air vent comes on full blast, has anybody else experienced this and do you know why it happens

"has anybody else experienced this?"

All of your passengers I would guess :D

Sorry, I could not resist that

These cars never fail to entertain with new electrickery do they!

Cheers I was expecting someone to come out with that one .. lol

I'm guessing maybe the reverse light and the blowers share the same fuse

System switches to recirculate when reverse selected rather than drawing in fresh air - it's to stop you sucking in your own exhaust fumes as you reverse.

It turns out to be a clever one and not a stupid wiring issue then .... Very clever germans..... Thanks for that smc998

It's not that clever. On mk1 Fabias it just means the recirculate function is probably not working any more, as it needlessly cycles on off every time you select reverse, even if you only go 4 yards backwards.

Kept an eye on the led on the recirc button and an ear on the fan noise, vent flaps etc when reversing today and noticed no change whatsoever.

Doesnt mean that there wasnt one though but the flaps make a hell of a clicking racket at all other times.

I'll keep a check on my recirculation light next time I reverse, didn't think of that, that'll tell me if that is what is happening

Thanks J.R for that

I noticed the recirc-on reverse only works on mine if the recirc button is press twice for auto mode (green light on the rhs under the A).

Didn't think of that, I'll make sure the AUTO is not on then hopefully that should stop it in the future as well

Thanks pikpilot

On our Fabia and Polo the light in the button doesn't come on when it switches automatically with reversing. Both climatic not climatronic systems though so may not work the same.

Me neither, did not even know you could have recirc and auto!

Don't get confused between the AUTO button for the climatronic and the auto mode for the recirculation button. If you have only one light on the recirc button then you do not have this feature.

I will have a look, learning new things every day!

Mine's working even not in auto. It doesn't light up the indictaiton led on the button but i can hear it when flaps moving to hold the incoming air into cabin.

I have found it very comfy as when reversing in dirt roads and a cloud of dust is raised then no any particle in the cabin comes in and also internal air remains very nice.

when reversing and then selecting 1st to go forward it doesn't return immediately - the recirc stays for 5-6 secs..

Still pointless for 99.9% of reverses. I can see it makes sense if you're reversing 100 metres or more, but for most people, day-to-day parking etc. it's just wearing out the motor and potentiometer for no useful reason. They did it because they could, and it looks 'clever' so gullible people will think it adds value, not because there was ever any need for it, in my opinion.

I can not say you're not right. it throws some light from this point of view.....

Such relevant thingy/techy "goodies" exist to all automobile companies - they call it comfort (living/travveling) for passengers.

We of course should not blame all the time the technology - it doesnt always have a bad/spendy face.

I have heard cases from others with a 90's car and  hell-blamed that breathed all this kind of fumes/dust when reversed at that time.....others started to cough for time..

Of course as per your opinion, then the easy breakout parts do cost today and many many irrelevant poor people would go and pay lots of money to fix . So profits and sales are flowing on the market ...

So opinions differ.....

I seem to have 2 LEDs on most of the air switches, I'll have to get the manual out
