Passenger wing mirror reverse problem

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have my wing mirror adjustment knob set to the passenger mirror so it dips when I select reverse. However when doing this, on around 50% of occasions, the wing mirror does not move back to the original position when I am back in drive and moving again (I know it usually resets when I set off and am doing above a certain speed - 5mph?).

Does anybody have any experience of this and if so how I can overcome it?

Thank you.

I have the same issue but also when lowers mirror tends to move fully to the left. Car two weeks old, other than that car is great. This is my 3rd Superb.

Have you actually configured/set the mirror to the position you'd like it to be in when selecting reverse?

You need to ensure the option is set via the infotainment system, Vehicle > Settings > Mirrors and Wipers.  You then need to store the preferred position:

1.  Select 'L' on mirror rotary control knob.

2.  Select Reverse gear

3.  Set the preferred position of the L/passenger mirror.

4.  Engage 1st/D.

5.  Drive away, the mirror should now return to it's usual position when you exceed 15 KPH.

Hope this helps.

EDIT:  Oh and if you have KESSY/driver profiles setup, then it's worth storing the preferences for your profile again.

Have you been able to get this sorted? I have the exact same problem as you have but the above mentioned instructions don’t seem to work for me

You likely have to select 'R' for the first step ?

Yes, of course. I have the steering wheel in the “right” side.  ;)

Everything works except the mirror doesn’t return to the correct position. With my profile and with my wife’s profile. Tried resetting the windows and mirrors but still it returns to a different position. Also somtimes when the mirrors were folded.

This is probably my #1 annoyance in the 2 months ownership to date,  it's such a great feature but seems to be over-complex to manage.  There are a couple of other threads that discuss this but I've still not managed to work the logic out fully.  A couple of things I would add to the procedure that @penguin17 mentions:

1.  If using Kessy/Driver profiles, have the correct key in your possession that you wish to set this feature for (avoids much cursing :blush )

2.  Engine I think needs to be off with ignition, but it's not clear from the manual.

3.  Select the desired driver seat position 1-3, with which you wish to set the mirror position  *** see note below ***

4. proceed per below:

5.  Drive away, the mirror should now return to it's usual position when you exceed 15 KPH.

5.  Leave the rotary control set to L.

*** The current manual on page 84 states: ***

Note:  Every time you save the new seat and exterior mirror settings settings for driving forwards, you must also save the front passenger mirror settings for reversing again.

So, if you have not had car long, and are still looking for that perfect seat position and re-saving, you are going to need to reset this feature each time you hear the 'ping'.

Personally I still think there is a logic flaw somewhere, as I also find myself on occasion with the mirrors either not reverting, or not moving to the downwards position.   Possibly related to use of multiple seat positions, and/or last used gear was R.

WTF they were thinking when programming this I have no idea, however I have made it my mission to work it out.  One setting on the Infotainment should have sufficed you would have thought.
