I'm a happy owner of superb with new engine 1.5 and my  first impression after two weeks is very positive it is pleasure to drive ,engine is flexible gear box work superb very quiet and comfortable car great for city drive and also good on motorways 87mails  on clock with 2.250 rpm and very quiet inside. I  was owner os octavia vrs 2.0 tdi 184 up for the last 4 years so I did worry then coming from the stronger diesel will put me off from beginning of driving 1.5 tsi , and uff this is not case ,maybe I  have now little lees power on motorways when overtaking then 2.0 tdi but not that much to regret. Please write you experience with this engine, as I wonder   what others owners thinking about this car.

diesel, more power?! ha ha ha

it can give 30% money save on same distance, but not driving pleasure

Yes you are  right I have more pleasure from driving 1.5 petrol than 2.0 tdi

Depends on who's making the diesel.

The 330d I've just changed from had a rather good engine and consistently returned 50+mpg at the pump. It also met Euro 6 without any of that adblue nonsense. In my new Superb diesel, I've given up 2 cylinders and over 100PS to gain about 5mpg :blush

On the plus side, it's a hell of a lot cheaper and more comfortable!

I have the 1.4 DSG, when I take people out in it they can't believe how quite it is.

A mate came round the other day in his new 5 series M v6 diesel, I had to laugh, the seats were too small, he is a big lad, his head almost touching the roof, very little leg room, a pooh sat nav, no heated seats even though leather, no electric adjustment,  in fact not a lot of anything apart from £20,000 extra. It is quicker and faster than mine but the look on his face when he got in the Skoda was a real treat.

The 1.4 and I assume also the 1.5 are not drivers cars and I would suggest to any potential buyers do not waste money on paddles but I would try for the adaptive suspension.

You are right about  BMW m5 very little room. I do have a heated steering wheel works great comes with paddles but I feel I will not going to using as dsg works great.
